Purchase Requests
Montana State University Library welcomes your recommendations for additions to our collections. Please use this form to give us details of any purchases you would like the Library to make. Before submitting, check the catalog (CatSearch), Articles & Research Databases, or Journal Search to see if we already own the item.
Interlibrary Loan
If we don't own it, we can get it for you. Request materials we don't own using Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Most article requests (generally delivered electronically) take 2-3 business days while most print items take 3-7 business days. You can check the status in your account (see “Requests on Order” or “All Requests”) or contact the ILL office in person, by phone at 406-994-3161, or e-mail us at bozemanill@montana.edu

Publication Support
The library can help you find the right place to publish your research through traditional or open education sources. We currently have Read and Publish agreements with Cambridge University Press, Company of Biologists, and the Royal Society of Publishing.
Some additional resources for publishing:
Open Access Author Fund
The Library provides an author’s fund to help remove the barrier between MSU authors and open access publishing. The program was started in 2014 and has funded over 250 articles since inception.
Copyright & Author's Rights
The library can help decipher publishing agreements and assess copyright and Creative Commons licenses for publications. Although we do not offer legal advice, the library can help you navigate copyright, your rights, and your ability to reuse work. Email (leila.sterman@montana.edu) or phone (406-994-4529) Leila Sterman for help.
The Library provides Data Management Resources to help you create and implement a data management strategy.
ScholarWorks captures the intellectual work of Montana State University in an open access institutional repository. ScholarWorks is a central point of discovery for accessing, collecting, sharing, preserving, and distributing knowledge to the MSU community and the world.
The library can help assess the copyright of papers for submission into ScholarWorks.
