Adding Library Resources in Canvas

Seamlessly incorporate library materials into your course shell, ensuring smooth access for your students.

Option 1: Importing Tutorials from Canvas Commons (Recommended)

1. To import content from Canvas Commons, login to Canvas, then click on "Canvas Commons" along the left side of the screen.

2. Use the search bar in the center of the Canvas Commons page to search for "MSU Library"

3. Click on the title of the module you would like to add to your course. 

4. Select "Import/Download" in the upper right hand corner. 

5. Select the appropriate course(s) to which you would like to import this Canvas Commons resource. Click "Import into Course."

6. Once you click Import into Course, you will receive a message that your import has successfully started. Navigate back to your course to view the import by clicking on Dashboard in your Global Navigation.

Option 2: Embedding Tutorials with Embed Codes

When using embed codes, such as for MSU Quick Skills for Research Tutorials:

  1. In your Canvas course, move your cursor to the text box where you want to insert the embed code.
  2. You can either:
    1. Click on the "Insert" menu and select "Embed".
      OR
    2. Click on the Embed icon in the toolbar.
  3. Copy and paste the appropriate embed code to share the resource in your course shell.
