What is a Knowledge-Connecting Project?

Knowledge-connecting projects empower people to create, disseminate, and validate knowledge. Citizen science projects encourage direct observation and data collection. Transcribe-a-thons help make historical documents accessible to a global audience. Wikipedia edit-a-thons underscore the importance of fact checking and citation. All of these projects are rooted in the principles of inquiry, innovation, and transparency.

Other terms for the democratization of knowledge transfer include "crowdsourcing," "collaborative intelligence," "local knowledge," and "the wisdom of the crowds."
