Getting to Know R

We understand that using RStudio is a strong and innovative program that will help you excel in statistics work as well as develop a beginning understanding of coding.  We also understand that it comes with a steep learning curve when getting started. 

MSU Faculty have created a suite of resources that will guide you from beginning to more advanced.  We have compiled some additional tutorials and resources to help you get started.

R File Types

• *.r - An R script.
• *.rmd - An R Markdown file.
• *.rnw - An R Sweave file.
• *.rds - A file containing a [single] R object; can be created using saveRDS(), and loaded using readRDS().
• *.rdata - A file containing one or more R objects or workspaces; can be created using save(), and loaded using load().
