MSU Library Services for Faculty

Discover the services the library provides in research & publication, teaching & learning, and technology services.

Request Online Library Instruction Services

Library instruction is available in a variety of modalities. MSU librarians are available to teach live web-based and/or in-person classes, or they can create videos, guides, assignments, and other interactive online materials to meet your needs.

  • Request instruction sessions at least 2 weeks in advance. We cannot guarantee availability of a librarian for short notice requests, however, we have asynchronous materials created that may be a good substitute.
  • Instruction sessions should correspond to a specific research assignment or project; a librarian will help curate learning outcomes for the session based on the assignment requirements. Students should have topics chosen or narrowed to the point that they are ready to do hands-on research.
  • The instructor will be an active collaborator during the planning of library instruction.
  • Librarians understand the value of active learning for students to process and apply what we teach. Please give us the time and space to work with your students beyond lecture and demonstration so they have deeper learning of information literacy and better outcomes in their coursework.

Integrate Research Skills Into Your Course

MSU Library is proud to offer the following tutorials to help students begin the research process. Each tutorial will guide you through a step in the research process from deciding on a topic to reading scholarly research articles.

Individual pieces (tutorials, videos, etc.) can be embedded directly into Brightspace or watched within the database itself.
