Safari ebooks

Available on networked computers on the MSU campus in Bozeman and via the proxy server. Eight simultaneous users maximum. Please log out when finished.

Safari Tech Books Online provides a level of authority, flexibility, and currency unequalled by other online IT reference databases. Books covered include technologies most essential to users including certification, enterprise computing, Java, Linus/Unix, Web development, Windows, XML, and more. Users can search hundreds of books simultaneously online, saving time and quickly finding the information they need. Users can browse all Safari Tech Books just as they would books in print. Each title contains a complete table of contents with chapter links for easy page-to-page browsing. All charts, graphs, and other images are included just as originally published, ensuring that users get total access to the entire range of content offered in each title.

EReaders and Safari

To View Documents and eBooks from a Computer or Device Browser:

  1. From the library's homepage, click Find > Articles & Research Databases.
  2. Under "by format," select Ebooks.
  3. Select Safari Tech Books Online.
  4. Click "View all titles."
  5. Search or browse to find an item.  Once you have chosen a book to view, click on the title.
  6. Click on a chapter heading or on "Start reading."
  7. Use the navigation tools to page through the ebook.

PLEASE NOTE: MSU's institutional subscription does not allow downloading of PDFs at this time.  You must view Safari eBooks from your browser.

 

On Kindle:

  1. Follow steps 1-8 above in your Kindle browser.*

 

*Some Kindles have browser capabilities.  Depending on which version of the Kindle you have, it may be possible to get pdfs online directly from the Kindle by logging in through MSU's proxy server.  For other versions, you will not be able to do this.  MSU library's account at Safari does not support downloading at this time.

 

On Nook:

  1. Follow steps 1-8 above in your Nook browser.*

 

*Some Nooks have browser capabilities.  Depending on which version of the Nook you have, it may be possible to get pdfs online directly from the Kindle by logging in through MSU's proxy server.  For other versions, you will not be able to do this.  MSU library's account at Safari does not support downloading at this time.

 

 

To View Documents and eBooks from an iPad or Other Mobile Device:

 

  1. Follow steps 1-8 above in your mobile device browser.
