eBook Library (EBL)

Ebook Library (EBL) is a web-based ebook lending platform which is capable of delivering Ebook Corporation's rapidly expanding catalogue of ebooks to academic and research libraries. EBL offers innovative functionality such as:

  • Multiple concurrent access (multiple people reading at the same time)
  • Online and offline access
  • Read aloud for all titles
  • Browsing before borrowing

To View Documents and eBooks from a Computer or Device Browser:

  1. From the library's homepage, click on Articles & Research Databases.
  2. Under "by format," click on +full list.
  3. Select Ebooks.
  4. Select EBL - Ebook Library (you may need to sign in using your NetID and password).
  5. Click on "Browse Content"
  6. Once you have chosen a book to view, click on "Read This Book".
  7. Use the navigation tools to view the book.

Adobe Digital Editions is required to read all EBL ebook downloads.  Click here to download and install.

To download an EBL eBook, follow the instructions after clicking on the "Download" tab.

 

 

On Kindle:

  1. Follow steps 1-7 above in your Kindle browser.*

Kindle does not support the EPUB format at this time.  You will not be able to access downloaded EBL eBooks on Kindle.

*Some Kindles have browser capabilities.  Depending on which version of the Kindle you have, it may be possible to access EBL eBooks online directly from the Kindle by logging in through MSU's proxy server.  For other versions, you will not be able to do this.  Kindle does not support the EPUB format at this time.  You will not be able to access downloaded EBL eBooks on Kindle.

 

On Nook:

  1. Follow steps 1-7 above in your Nook browser.*

*Some Nooks have browser capabilities.  Depending on which version of the Nook you have, it may be possible to get pdfs online directly from the Kindle by logging in through MSU's proxy server.  For other versions, you will not be able to do this and must instead download documents onto a desktop, then upload them onto your Nook.  Your Nook must have Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) in order to read the downloaded eBook.  

 

 

To View Documents and eBooks from an iPad or Other Mobile Device:

  1. Follow steps 1-7 above in your mobile device browser.

or

  1. Patrons using iPads, iPhones or Android devices can download and read EBL content via the free Bluefire Reader app (you must register the device with Adobe).
  2. Click "Download" tab on the left.
  3. Follow the instructions.

or

  1. Follow steps 1-7 above on your laptop or desktop computer.
  2. Click "Download" tab on the left.
  3. Follow the instructions.
  4. Save the document (as a pdf) to your desktop or selected folder.
  5. Upload document onto your device using the USB port (if available).  iPad users can upload documents using iDisk, following these instructions. Another option is to use the Dropbox app.  More information about Dropbox can be found here.
