Industry reports and surveys provide an overview of the industry. They might include forces impacting the industry, major players, current trends and information on how to analyze the industry. Below are some recommended sources.

  • IbisWorld
    Covers over 900 industries, the major companies in those industries and the business conditions they face. It covers industry market research and risk ratings.
  • Standard & Poor’s NetAdvantage
    Gives broad industry analysis including individual company information within those industries. Search by industry, company, or ticker symbol.
  • Business Source Complete
    To locate industry profiles:
    *Enter your industry
    *Enter United States in the next search box
    *Check Industry Profile under Publication Type
  • Mergent Online
    Mergent has detailed company financial information but also provides a few broud industry reports. Click on Report Search (2nd to last tab along the top of the screen) and select industry and then Region
  • ValueLine
    The Value Line Investment Survey is a print investment survey which provide an overview of financial performance of a company. Surveys are listed by industry. At the beginning of each new segment, a one page survey of the industry is provided. This is updated every 13 weeks.
